Client: Base Camp Caravans
Industry: Caravan Sales & Accessories
Engagement: In-House Sales Partner (15 months)
Outcome: Repositioned the business in the market, resulting in major growth in both sales and turnover.
Base Camp Caravans had recently been taken over by a new owner who believed the business had significant untapped potential.
However, six months into ownership, the results were not reflecting that potential.
Sales were low, the brand didn’t resonate with customers, and the business lacked clear systems to track performance or guide decision-making.
The owner recognised that if the business was going to grow, it needed a stronger market position and a more structured approach to sales and operations.
When we looked closely at the business, it became clear that the issue wasn’t the product or the market.
The real problem was a lack of structure across the customer journey.
Key challenges included:
Customers were making enquiries, but the process wasn’t structured in a way that built confidence or encouraged them to move forward.
To address these issues, we applied my From Prospects to Profits framework, which focuses on improving the entire customer journey rather than simply increasing sales activity.
Instead of asking, “How do we sell more?”, we asked:
“How do we make it easier for customers to choose this business?”
By mapping every interaction customers had with the business, we identified where friction appeared and redesigned the process to build trust and clarity.
The first step was aligning the brand with the expectations of caravan buyers.
We undertook a full rebrand and created new point-of-sale signage to present the business in a more professional and industry-appropriate way.
We sourced new suppliers that allowed the business to offer products competitors didn’t.
This created a unique niche within the market and gave customers a compelling reason to choose Base Camp Caravans.
We introduced systems to measure and track performance across the business.
This gave the owner clear insight into sales activity, customer engagement, and operational performance.
As the business grew, it expanded into larger premises and employed additional staff to support increasing demand.
Within 15 months, the transformation was significant.
Caravan sales increased 200%, while turnover increased by 383%, delivering an exceptional return on investment.
Just as importantly, the business developed a reputation as the caravan company that genuinely valued its customers, which helped drive repeat business and referrals.
With strong systems and positioning in place, the business now has the foundation to continue growing and strengthening its market presence.
Many businesses believe that declining sales is a marketing problem.
In reality, the issue is often friction within the customer journey.
When the right systems and structure are in place, customers move forward naturally.
If you’d like to discover where your business may be losing sales opportunities, start by mapping your customer journey and identifying where hesitation appears.
